⋆˙⟡the stranglers - golden brownThe chirping of the finches in the morning air. Followed by a crashing glass on the floor from Queen Luna’s quarters in the early morning of 300 B.C.E.“She’s having the baby!” The maid exclaimed from the corridor of the palace.King Rune heard the commotion making his way to the quarters. His wife was so pale, skin glowing from the sweat, as the midwife helped deliver the baby. Rune froze in shock while looking between the midwife and his beautiful Luna. He ran to her side tearing up and crying seeing the pain in her eyes as well as the miracle happening before his eyes.“I know, my love, it’s painful. If the gods allow me, I’d take your pain.” Rune’s voice soft while Luna tears up from the excruciating pain.Hours later, the sounds of the Forest nymphs singing in joy. A new fairy has entered the world, Zarina Dawn. The new princess of Luminara. A soon to be queen of keeping the safe haven for all creatures to roam free, and keep the sun up. The queen and king look at Zarina like she was the sun in an endless storm emerging.301 B.C.E., Luna was with Zarina in the garden tending to the plants while Zarina waved her little wand around. Her mother was sipping on the water from the mighty well of The Mighty Well. This well has supplied Radiana with its water for hundreds of years, and Luna would fall victim to the heinous crimes of the Golden Kingdom. There had been stories of these people. Some say their skin is poisoned due to the gold embedded in them. They were always told to be the chosen people of those in the land. They are only to protect, but we all know that they aren’t protecting history, just erasing it.It was also told that Radiana was a safe haven for those willing to love and respect. The plants emit a soft glow and all kinds of creatures would live unharmed. That was true until the day Luna had fallen ill. The Kingdom of Radiana was under attack from those who wished to run over the Realm of Beauty. Rune had found out that The Golden Kingdom had poisoned the Mighty Well by dumping once of their own in there. The shock in his face when he saw a rusting Fae in the well. All the color had drained from his face, the only thought in his mind. “My Luna!” He collapsed to the ground clutching his heart, feeling the beat increase. He knew his wife would be dead within days. He knew exactly what had to happen. The war began. Fairy and fae, friend and foe, a means to an end. For Luna and for Zarina. The fight for a temporary truce, the truce would mean Lunna could live, However it was too late. It lasted too long. Hades had come to collect Luna Dawn’s soul for a trip down the River Styx. For the first time the Sun hasn't shown in 3,000 years. A means to an end. The end being Luna. The last memory Rune will ever have of his wife: is her pale skin, her eyes fading into grey, Zarina screaming and crying for her mother’s touch, and Luna’s scent. The same scent Luna wore the day Rune fell for her, the smell of peppermints and vanilla. It's now been 25 years after the event of the death of her mother. Her heart hasn't healed since then. The nightmares of her mother clouding her thoughts. The fear of leaving her castle would cause her to hide in her room, dreaming about her mother and what she would be doing right now if she knew Zarina would never leave the room.”My child, why do you torture yourself so?” The sound of her voice echoes through Zarina’s mind like a melody. The voice gets louder as she grows older. Though she knows its not her just sounds like her.
